There’s just something about Sunday mornings. I can’t even really put my finger on what it is, but they just hit a little softer than any other day. Sure, no work, that is a big reason, but Saturday mornings don’t (usually) lead to work either. I don’t even particularly like Sundays in general. Mainly because it means I have to get up for work on Monday and dark dread settles over me at about 1pm every single Sunday, but whatever. It’s why I don’t love Fall when it seems like everyone else names Fall as their favorite season. Winter is right on Fall’s tail, and I loathe Winter as much as I do Mondays.
Maybe it means I need to live more in the present. Enjoy the small moments of each day rather than focusing on what is to come. Yeah, that’s probably it.
Stay present. Don’t look forward. Don’t look back. Enjoy each sweet moment as they come.
I have a jazz playlist playing in the background today and somehow, it’s making the morning even better. Dreamy. Making my coffee taste better too. I’ve been obsessed with Amazon’s series Bosch & Bosch: Legacy. I binged 7 seasons in 1 week. (Depression, anyone?) Harry Bosch loves jazz. The scenes with him listening in his living room looking out over LA are magical. I forgot how much I enjoy jazz music. I was a music major for about a minute in college back in the 90’s. We were pretentious 20-somethings who went to jazz clubs in the city, dabbled with jazz in the practice rooms.
I miss those days.
There I go again, thinking about the past…
Can anyone ever stop? Is staying in the present moment even possible?
Is this something you struggle with? Any suggestions from those of you who can actually remain in the present for more than a minute? I welcome any comments or suggestions.
Anyway, as always I have some book promotions below if you need something new to read. I’ve also been thinking about featuring other writers in my bi-weekly newsletters. If any of you are fellow writers and would like to be featured in an upcoming newsletter, please reply to this email and we’ll set something up.
I enjoy hearing from you.
Enjoy you Sunday, everyone. Stay present.
